What a Wild Ride! 2022 Recap and What's Ahead for 2023.

Can you believe it's 2023? I know they say time goes by faster as you get older, but man, sometimes it feels like it's going at the speed of light! As I reflect on the year's challenges and successes, I am so grateful for another amazing time of growth in my life, both personally and professionally.

Proud Moments

What are a few moments you are most proud of? If I had to make a list, I would say making the decision to hire a videographer team and shoot monthly video content was a big step for me. It's something I had been wanting to do for a while, and as with anything, being consistent is the key. So committing myself to batch shoot content once a month took a lot of courage but I knew it would move the vision for my business forward. It takes courage to be authentically you and show up that way every day, especially online. I'm not going to lie and say it's easy. It's not. I have to recite affirmations to myself daily to get better at being courageous in this way. But what I have learned over time is that things like this are like working a muscle. As you do the same exercise over and over again, your body goes into muscle memory and the work gets easier as you get stronger. The mind and the actions we take act the same way. You get stronger and consistency makes things easier over time.

Another big moment for me in 2022 would be joining a writing group. A lot of you know my passion for writing and I really needed this accountability to keep pursuing my dreams of creative writing. What you may be surprised to know is that I had already written a fantasy novel and was struggling to take the next step with it. My writing group encouraged me to be brave and keep moving forward. I am proud to say I handed my book to an editor last month and have started the process of self-publishing my novel with plans to launch it later this year. This has been huge for me! I don't have much details yet, but I'm so excited to share my book with you in the future. Stay tuned!!

Challenges won't get me down

The challenges are always there and I've experienced them big and small in 2022, but I've learned you can't stay there. Give yourself time to be frustrated, angry or grieve whatever that tragedy or obstacle is but then find a way to move forward. The more you practice this, the better you'll get at not staying down for too long. If you are always looking for what you can learn from these situations, then there never is failure. It's all learning and growth.

Be Brave

My word for 2023 is BRAVE. I always set a word for the year and it's a reminder to me of what my overarching goal is and how I can get there. I have to be brave if I want to continue to pursue my dreams and impact the world around me. Have you ever identified a word of the year? I would encourage you to try it! It can be a "north star" of sorts as you navigate the year ahead. Either way, I think we all could benefit from being brave.

Morale of the story? Everything you want in life is on the outside of your comfort zone. Get comfortable being uncomfortable and big things will happen. Don't stop moving forward. Your future self will thank you.
